  TERRY SCORES LATE, RED WINS FALL FESTIVAL OPENER

  CALGARY, Alta. – Kelly Terry (Whitby, Ont./Toronto, CWHL) broke open a tie game with a terrific individual effort with 4:56 to go, helping Red to a 4-3 win over the Calgary AAA Flames in the opening game Thursday at Canada’s National Women’s Team Fall Festival.

  Red trailed 3-1 just past the 13-minute mark of the first period before reeling off three unanswered goals to record the victory.

  With overtime looming, Terry picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone, drove wide and cut to the Calgary net before roofing a shot over the short-side shoulder of Flames goaltender Cole Boutin.

  Micah Hart (Saanichton, B.C./Cornell University, ECAC), Jill Saulnier (Halifax, N.S./Calgary, CWHL) and Jessica Campbell (Rocanville, Sask./Calgary, CWHL) scored the other goals for Red.

  Veteran goaltender Charline Labonté (Boisbriand, Que./Montreal, CWHL) made 28 saves for the win.

  Hart wasted no time getting Red on the board, sneaking a point shot through Boutin just 19 seconds after the puck dropped to start the game for a quick 1-0 advantage.

  Brett Leason pulled the Flames even at 2:36, fanning on a shot that fooled Labonté, and he set up Markus Boguslavsky for Calgary’s first lead just 4:14 later.

  Steven Lawrence put Calgary up by a pair with a shorthanded marker at 13:36, knocking in a centering pass from Brady Barclay, but Saulnier followed up a hard-work effort from Meghan Agosta (Ruthven, Ont.) to jam in a loose puck and cut the Red deficit to 3-2 after 20 minutes.

  Campbell had the lone goal in a quieter second period; she took a feed in the slot from Bailey Bram (Ste. Anne, Man./Calgary, CWHL) and went to the backhand to beat Boutin and send the game to the third tied 3-3.

  Calgary finished with a 31-25 advantage in shots on goal.

  Both teams return to the ice Friday; Red meets White in an all-Canadian match-up (8:30 p.m. MT), while the Flames take on the SEAC Tigers in a match-up of AMHL rivals (5:30 p.m. MT).

  CALGARY, Alb. – Kelly Terry (Whitby, Ont./Toronto, LCHF) a brisé l’égalité grâce à un effort individuel remarquable alors qu’il restait 4 min 56 s à jouer, permettant aux Rouges de l’emporter 4 à 3 contre les Flames midget AAA de Calgary dans le match d’ouverture jeudi au Festival d’automne de l’équipe nationale féminine.

  Les Rouges tiraient de l’arrière 3 à 1 après un peu plus de 13 minutes en première période avant d’enchaîner trois buts sans riposte pour obtenir la victoire.

  À l’approche de la prolongation, Terry s’est emparée d’une rondelle libre dans la zone neutre et s’est déportée à l’aile, pour ensuite couper au filet de Calgary et loger un tir du côté rapproché, au-dessus de l’épaule du gardien des Flames, Cole Boutin.

  Micah Hart (Saanichton, C.-B./Université Cornell, ECAC), Jill Saulnier (Halifax, N.-É./Calgary, LCHF) et Jessica Campbell (Rocanville, Sask./Calgary, LCHF) ont marqué les autres buts des Rouges.

  La gardienne vétérante Charline Labonté (Boisbriand, Qc/Montréal, LCHF) a réalisé 28 arrêts dans la victoire.

  Steven Lawrence a doublé l’avance de Calgary à l’aide d’un but en désavantage numérique à 13 min 36 s en décochant un tir sur une passe au centre de Brady Barclay, mais Saulnier a complété les efforts acharnés de Meghan Agosta (Ruthven, Ont.) en poussant une rondelle libre dans le filet pour réduire le déficit des Rouges à 3 à 2 après 20 minutes de jeu.

  Campbell a été l’auteure du seul but au cours d’une deuxième période plus calme. Elle a reçu une passe de Bailey Bram (Ste. Anne, Man./Calgary, LCHF) dans la zone privilégiée et a battu Boutin du revers pour créer l’égalité avant la troisième période.

  Calgary a terminé le match avec 31 tirs au but en sa faveur contre 25 pour les Rouges.
