  LATE GOALS HELP CANADA EDGE KOREA AT WSHC

  BRIDGEWATER, N.S. – Tyler McGregor (Forest, Ont.) had a goal and an assist in the final 5:04, helping Canada’s National Sledge Team blank Korea 2-0 on Monday night at the 2016 World Sledge Hockey Challenge.

  McGregor set up Ben Delaney (Ottawa, Ont.) late in the third period to finally open the scoring, and added a goal of his own into an empty net in the final minute to keep Canada’s perfect record intact, and set up a first-place showdown against the United States on Wednesday night (7 p.m. AT).

  Canadian netminder Dominic Larocque (Quebec City, Que.) made eight saves for the shutout, but it was Korean counterpart Man-Gyun Yu who stole the show with a 21-save performance.

  Canada outshot Korea 12-4 through the first two scoreless periods, which included four Canadian power plays and a 52-second 5-on-3 advantage late in the second, but Yu kept the game 0-0 through 30 minutes.

  The offensive onslaught continued in the third period, with Canada racking up 11 shots in the final frame, but it took until McGregor found Delaney alone in front for a shot that made its way under Yu to give the Canadians the lead.

  Benefitting from an offensive zone face-off in the dying seconds, Korea pulled Yu in favor of an extra skater, but a blocked shot from McGregor sent him in on a breakaway that clinched the Canadian victory.

  Canada finished goalless on five power-play opportunities, while the Koreans failed on their lone attempt.

  Korea will look to get its first win Wednesday afternoon against winless Russia in the round-robin finale for both (noon AT).

  BRIDGEWATER, N.-É. – Tyler McGregor (Forest, Ont.) a obtenu un but et une mention d’aide avec 5 min 4 s à jouer au match pour permettre à l’équipe nationale sur luge du Canada de blanchir la Corée 2-0 lundi soir au Défi mondial de hockey sur luge 2016.

  McGregor a préparé le but de Ben Delaney (Ottawa, Ont.) en fin de troisième période pour finalement ouvrir la marque, en plus d’ajouter lui-même un but dans un filet désert dans la dernière minute de jeu, conservant donc la fiche parfaite du Canada et mettant la table en vue d’un affrontement pour la première place contre les États-Unis mercredi soir (19 h HA).

  Le gardien de but canadien Dominic Larocque (Québec, Qc) a réalisé huit arrêts pour obtenir le jeu blanc, mais c’est plutôt son homologue coréen Man-Gyun Yu qui s’est donné en spectacle grâce à une performance de 21 arrêts.

  Le Canada a dominé la Corée 12-4 au chapitre des tirs au but pendant les deux premiers engagements, où le pointage est demeuré nul, malgré quatre avantages numériques du Canada, dont un jeu de puissance à cinq contre trois de 52 secondes en fin de deuxième période. Ainsi, Yu a fait en sorte que la marque soit toujours 0‑0 après 30 minutes.

  La poussée offensive du Canada s’est poursuivie au dernier tiers, l’équipe dirigeant 11 tirs au filet pendant cette période, mais il a fallu attendre que McGregor repère Delaney seul devant le filet et que celui-ci prenne un tir qui s’est faufilé sous Yu pour que le Canada prenne les devants.

  Profitant d’une mise au jeu en zone offensive dans les derniers instants du match, la Corée a retiré Yu en faveur d’un sixième patineur, mais un tir bloqué par McGregor a permis à ce dernier de filer en échappée et de confirmer la victoire du Canada.

  Le Canada a échoué à ses cinq tentatives en avantage numérique, tandis que la Corée n’a pas su profiter du seul jeu de puissance qu’elle a obtenu.

  La Corée tentera de signer une première victoire mercredi après-midi contre la Russie, qui est elle-même toujours sans victoire, lors du dernier match de la ronde préliminaire pour ces deux équipes (midi HA).
